Wittenberg is located about 40 minutes by train from Berlin. The city is associated with Martin Luther who taught at the university, preached at St. Mary's Church and where he started the Protestant Reformation with his pinning of his 95 theses on the door of the Castle Church. The altar painting is by Lucas Cranach, a famous court painter and friend of Martin Luther.
