Elvetham

Carved wooden decoration atop banister of staircase inside Elvetham Hotel. The present day hotel was rebuilt in 1860 on a historic medieval site. Elvetham was mentioned in the Doomsday Book – a survey commissioned in 1085 by William the Conqueror (of Normandy) who invaded England in 1066.
